The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services released a new report on a proposed change to the state program providing rides to Medicaid-related appointments. The report says most users are poor and older, making them especially “sensitive” to changes in the operating model. The state is currently in discussions to transition into a broker model. The report also states that the total costs and savings “cannot fully be quantified” at the release of the report because there are too many unknowns and that the DHS has concerns about the program’s “long-term viability” and that the broker model could be one solution.
